14 Aug 2008

Lynne received the written report from the MRI today. The tumor site shows enhancement but at this point we are unsure whether the enhancement results from the gamma procedure or recurrent cancer cells. She meets with the radiation oncologist on 26 August 2008. Additional information will be received at that time. Please keep Lynne in your prayers.

Regards,
Darryl

Hi Darry/JoLynne!
I'm so sorry to hear of your cancer. I have read all the available entries Darryl has posted and it seems you have been fighting this for some time. A couple of years? All Lynne has been through (and Darryl) has been so difficult to read (yet inspiring) and hard to believe one could be strong enough to make it to where you are today. You are quite the fighter! The pictures of you are beautiful and you don't look ill at all!

It makes me sad that we never stayed in touch after all these years, I knew you both when you were still dating in high school (or at least right out).

I have to tell you, I feel very blessed. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor 12 years ago. Mine was not cancer, but it sat center in the fluid canal and the concern was that if if grew any bigger it could cut off the flow. But after several 2nd opinions and the last one being Dr. Harrington at Barrow's and his staff, I was assured that I did not need surgery right away and that my chances of problems during and post surgery were equal to not having the surgery at all. They told me to think about it and at least have an MRI every year, which I did at pretty close to the exact time every year. It was a little unnerving (I know you know that more than me!!). It remained the same all these years and two years ago the report was that it seemed to have reduced in size a bit. The following year it stayed the same in size. Then last year there was no evidence of it at all! The only evidence of it is some problems with short term memory. I know you can imagine how thankful and relieved I was. More thankful today.

Anyway, I didn't mean to take away from your misery that you have been through, I'm hoping it may encourage you, even though you seem to be doing very well with it.

You are so blessed with all the friends and family that are supportive and there for you!!

I hope the rest of your family are doing well and tell them hello for me should you think about it when you see them next.

I found out about your illness from a girl that my company hired to provide assistance in my department at work and after getting to know her, I asked her if she was a member of the Church Of Christ and she said yes and told me where she was attending (Sun Valley). Then a few weeks later she heard the news and told me.

If Darryl could e-mail me with your address I would like to send you something (MickiJoy@cox.net).

Keep fighting as you know you have the only coach you need on your side that can bless you through all of this.

With Love and in Him,
~Micki Bailey
